Ms. Shaw graduated cum laude from the University of Toledo earning a B.S. in Business in 1980. She continued her education at the University of Toledo School of Law receiving her Juris Doctorate degree in 1983. She began her legal career as an attorney and administrator for Roadway Express, Inc. in 1985. Ms. Shaw joined the firm of Heggeness & Sweet as an associate in 1987 and became a shareholder in 1992.

Ms. Shaw's practice focuses on carriers' workers' compensation defense.  She has extensive experience defending employers and their insurance carriers in workers’ compensation matters. She has practiced before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Orange Counties. While at Heggeness & Sweet, Ms. Shaw gained substantial civil litigation experience as the head of the firm’s subrogation department handling major subrogation cases on behalf of insurance carriers and self-insured employers. Ms. Shaw is licensed to practice in California and is a member of the California Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
